Last Tuesday, the Bowie High School administration announced February's student of the month, Ava Cunningham.

"I studied really hard," said Ava, "and made sure I had good grades and was loyal to everyone." 

Any AP class you can think of at Bowie High School, Ava is in! The good grades from her AP classes have brought her GPA to a 4.5.  Ava said she is balancing a social life while still being the top 5% in the school.

Ava volunteers at homeless shelters, creating a name for herself in the Bowie and outside communities. Her future plans involve going to a good college, getting a degree, and becoming President of the United States.  

For fun, she takes tech theatre, dance, and photo journalism. "My parents are very proud of me and they always congratulate me," Ava says of her supportive family. "They are not harsh on me."

She also credits Bowie High School, saying, "I think the school plays a big role in my success."  Ava reports that Ms. Mendez has offered the most support.

Now that Ava has set the bar high for herself for the following 3 years, she says she will work even harder, but not overwork herself.

Way to go, Ava! You've made the Bulldogs proud!

The March student of the month will be announced March 3rd.
