Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique

Some challenges I encountered was the space I had to step back and lean down or stand up. Being in a classroom trying to take pictures of students doing their work, it was hard to try and take the pictures around the tight desk. It was hard to get simplicity in there when there was a lot of distracting backgrounds or messy desk.

The technical aspects I thought about the most was the framing and focus. We had issues with our camera focusing at first, so trying to make sure the photo was really well focused was a challenge but very important. I got to focus on two students drilling in the theatre. The other was framing, it was hard for me to get around the desk and focus on one subject/student.

If I could do the assignment again, something I would do differently would be getting the angles and main subject on point.

Things I would do the same would be taking multiple pictures of one things in different ways.

I think the easiest rule I could achieve at the next prompt shoot would be Rule of Thirds. The hardest rule to capture for me would be Framing or Simplicity.

The rule of third rule is the one i'm not totally clear on, I can look up examples and read the google doc slide.

Their second photo with the rule "Avoiding Merger's" is very well cropped to fit all of the subjects and is very focused. The photo with the rule "Simplicity" shows the main focus, the phone, very well. Something that could be improved would be the photo "Simplicity," would be to get higher and closer to the phone to eliminate the distracting backgrounds.
